Quick Question About Temp Bans

So one of my alliance members got a temporary ban due to “inappropriate language or behavior”. I was curious, why would that not result in a mute instead? This member is a well known troll throughout the global, but hasn’t done anything illegitimate in the game, and is a customer who pays. Right now he’s missing out on a 7* selector, AW attack, alliance quest, and his daily unit card he had purchased, as well as some additional rewards from the side quest of this month. The timing of the ban could not have been worse, and all for something so petty as trolling in global which can be handled with a mute. I have also noticed that in global there are often times modders and mercs spamming their services without penalty, and have been doing so for a very long time. So why target a troll with a week ban that has almost the same impact as a month ban due to the timing, who is also a paying customer to the game?

Note i will not be responding to anyone or acknowledging any other message besides that of any Kabam member, i do not want this post to derail, just want a clear answer, rather than opinions as the support team has constantly shut him out on his support tickets saying “all bans are final”. I will be waiting patiently for a response from any Kabam member.
