Alliance War and joining battle group other than the one your defense is in

I had someone iny alliance not taking part in aw and needed kicked. I was already short a person in the aw bg that he was assigned to. Now I'm 2 aw attackers short in my one bg. I was told I can't attack in a bg that is different than my aw defense is placed in. Why then does it look like I can? When I try to join I get the error message. @Kabam Miike could you please allow war attackers to join a different bg than their defense for when people aren't available or an alliance is short on players? With the persistent placement, I couldn't change bgs until after it was too late. I love the persistent placement and it takes stress off me as and alliance leader not having to chase after people to place defenders and unable to take vacations without trying to log in and place defense. Thank you
