Why have we halted in war?

Is for caps enlistment I made an alliance with 5 friends and we recruited a couple randoms for 1 BG of war. As we are all paragons we stormed through and have only lost one war since the start of Caps Enlistment. However even though we burst through stone and bronze we are sort of getting stuck at silver 3. How does the scoring work? It is very hard to find info on this.

Oh and for scoring the simplest way to look at it is a 3bg alliance gets triple the points you do.
I’ll echo what the above comment says about 1bg. There is a ceiling that you’ll come up against.
Are you assuming they build all the way up to the highest levels of WarRating, while only playing 1 BG ?
In order to get very high level Multiplier to make up for only getting 1/3rd the normal points (plus the small extra of Win total unaffected by BG's).
Which if so, would take a very long time to do, and by that point if still playing that competitive would probably advance back to multiple BG's by then.
They said they started new, so they went thru Stone/Bronze, with WR starting from scratch.
At moderate War Rating (by which I mean NOT just some very top alliance deciding to drop down to only doing 1 or 2 BG), 2 BG would be hard pressed for Gold 1, let along a 1 BG Ally.

As your WR Rating climbs some more, you should be able to advance beyond Silver 3, but I don’t know about being able to crack into any level of Gold.
War season ranks are dependent on season points.
Season points are dependent on war tier multiplier.
Since you started new allince and started at tier 22... That's what you'll score with your multiplier.
Every allince gets ~50k points per BG.
+30k War points are awarded for a win.
If you are running 1 BG you are alredy missing in 100k points from other 2 BGs. And that adds up to a huge disadvantage.
The common hard but true reply we get in forums is why should an allince doing 1 BG ranks higher than allince doing 3 BG war in same tiers.
The higher your war rating, the higher your multiplier. The higher your multiplier, the more points you get. Here's 2 bg score, same alliance:
Oh, and these are all 3-5 million paragons.
Moral of the story: more battle groups, more points.
