Unstoppable Colossus psychic shielding work?

Juggernaut is immune to reverse controls due to the helmet he wears which also grants him the #psychicshielding tag.

If unstoppable colossus wears the same helmet and has the #psychicshielding tag, why is he then also not immune to reverse controls?

I just defeated the grandmaster using unstoppable colossus and he was not immune to reverse controls despite my belief that he would be.

Champion is not working as intended.

Psychic shielding only grants reverse controls immunity when the node or ability explicitly says so. Juggernaut has reverse controls immunity because of his gem not because he’s psychic shielding. There’s no bug

Okay, fair point. But unstoppable colossus also has the gem of cytorak… that’s literally the whole point of this character. So he should still have reverse control immunity

he should but they did not update unstoppable colossus when they updated juggernaut. he’s still the same champ from 2015(?), which was before reverse controls were even a thing. adding a tag to a champ and a new ability are two different things

In terms of lore yeah has the gem. But in terms of abilities he does not.

Keep in mind that the narrative explanation for how these characters even show up at all in the Battlerealm is tied to the fact that the Battlerealm dimension is a completely different plane of existence that has completely different rules. Even Infinity Gems work differently or not at all there. It is entirely up to the creators to decide how things like extradimensional avatars work in the Battlerealm. There's no guarantee that a champion's powers will work the same way in the Battlerealm as they did in their own home dimension.

It would be consistent with the lore that Juggernaut doesn't have the powers he has because of the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak directly, but rather because he was willed to have the powers that the gem ordinarily grants him when he was brought to the Battlerealm. There's no guarantee that that process would keep Unstoppable Colossus and Juggernaut's powers' consistent.

This kind of "they are what we say they are" rule is necessary for game balance, but is also completely consistent with the comics themselves, because characters always end up able to do whatever the writer decides they can do. Spider Man can defeat the Phoenix if the writer says so. Sentry is omnipotent when the writer says so, and then can be killed by someone throwing a rock at his head because the writer says so. If MCOC was a comic series instead of a game, the writers would come up with reasons why all the characters just so happened to be on the same power level, and if they wanted Unstoppable Colossus to have different abilities than Juggernaut they would just invent a reason, and we would let them.

Juggernaut himself has been retconned into more twists and loops than a bowl of spaghetti.
