Am I missing something with Alliance War

The last two fights I was in, I wasn’t sure how to dex the specials so I just held block and midway through the special, they just went through my block. No unblockable buffs, just simply ignored the blocking. Has this happened to anyone?

    who were you fighting? if it was Hulkling, and he had the shapeshift charges, he could have gone unblockable after a few hits into the block
