War keeps reverting back to 3bgs

No matter how many times we seem to save our settings, the game seem to reset our preferences back to 3 bgs and we don't run 3 bgs. So we keep getting paired up with alliances running 3, which is essentially a loss. It happens at least monthly so I'm starting to assume it's related to the monthly updates. There's a post a
I saw in September about this but it doesn't seem to be fixed or really acknowledged by Kabam. Is this happening to others?
