BG first round pick

Ever since two seasons ago, I have always had first pick of my defender in battlegrounds. There has not been a single match where I was second to pick. Although I do manage to win, picking first is always a slight disadvantage.
Up until october or november, it was always a fair 50/50 to be first or second, but now it feels like I'm just set to be first no matter what. It annoys me so much that something like this isn't up to chance anymore. Is this just a long running bug or is it just the way battlegrounds works nowadays?
