I feel like I should be able to use the side quest shards for these as I would heavily enjoy some 2* champs of these but I don’t want to use units on it. Does anyone else feel this way?

    Yes, but will they? Probably not considering these are trophy champs unless you still need to do that one Variant 2* level.

    if not the side quest shards then 25 units for them it would be better over 100 units that is the only reason why I don't get them

    If it was 100 units for a selector I may bite, or like 20 units for a random one but 100 units for a random 2* doesn't seem worth it to me.
