Champion shards

What if champion shards were introduced into the game. They act as an easier option of getting a specific champion. An example is displayed in injustice 2. They could get introduced in the rewards of paragon gauntlet. Regular crystals would still be available to get the full champion but for people targeting specific champions, they could gather shards of specific champions. Ps: This idea is in referral to 7 stars.
This is just an idea from another game, really not sure if it would affect the game economy either positively or negatively

They will give you 100 shards every month. And you would need 20K shards to form the crystal.

Then the shards would still be rng based. First time you'd get like 100 Adam warlock shards and next time you'd get 100 apocalypse shards etc. It would be an even worse rng fiesta than it already is.

7* herc shards. You can hold 20,000 of them but need 20,001 to get him, so you'd never be able to get him and all shards that go into overflow will just taunt you as they expire.
