Did tech guardians sp2 animation change?

I remember it was on huge beam blast. Now there seems to be 3 diff kinds of beams to his sp2. I was watching mcoc noobs guides and noticed this. Screengrabs from his YT video

Was this announced somewhere? Or changes like this is not announced usually?

He's one of my favorite characters and as someone who plays with him a lot i can confirm it was always like that
