Silver 1 rewards buffed then nerfed?

Last season silver 1 aw rewards were buffed a bit,still irrelevant and way out of date but much better than they have been before.
So I'm not exactly happy to play a whole season,not thinking I had to check to make sure the rewards were yet again not at all worth playing for,but finding out they have been nerfed back to the garbage they were 2 seasons ago.

    That season they bumped the rewards up a level due to AW issues during the season. They did that rather than have to bump every Alliance up one level. For example, they made the Gold 2 rewards be the rewards that Gold 1 had been in previous seasons, etc.

    This past season the rewards are the normal rewards.
