Maestro should be the best if you're into bgs and aren't planning to explore necro anytime soon.
He's a phenomenal defender.
If not him then I'd recommend Nick fury, without a proper nuke he is very slow to kill on defense.

But maestro is still the better defender simply due to a lack of counters

NF will work as attacker/defender but is more useful everywhere else. I like facing 6* maestro in BG's.
