Elder mark cap

I don't understand the 9k cap on elder marks. Yes, it's a currency that can be earned, but also purchased with our units. Whether the units are purchased or earned, it's still our time or money that we're using. I ran from bronze 5 to GC last season & started at 9k & am sitting at 8,950. Once I play 5 matches, I'll be rewarded another 2k. So, I'm left with a dilemma. Lose enough matches on purpose or watch my rewards float into the void. Possibly they will be put into inventory for the whole month & all my words will be both unnecessary & time wasted. Regardless, my question still stands? It seems that necessary currencies we actually purchased shouldn't have such a restricting cap...

    Valid question.

I haven’t played yet this season but if it’s the same as last season, the season start rewards will go into your overflow and you have 7 days to claim them.

I imagine the cap is there for milestone event reasons. For example i think it was last cap commissary event where they had a one season event where the milestone bg awards contained some amazing rewards (by that meta standard). So if they had no cap limit then every bg season people could just farm eldermarks and have like 100k eldermarks. So when kabam decide to do one of these events then there would be players who could just loose every single match and still reach the end of the milestone because they had a abundant amount of eldermarks.
