    The twilight sword is Surtur's sword, he uses it to channel his pyrokinetic powers. Beta Ray Bill took the sword after he slayed him and after Thor broke Stormbreaker.

    This could be interesting! Just a random dash of incinerate damage hahaha. It also might make the Vigor buff that procs make more sense since now he’s wielding both Stormbreaker and the Twilight Sword.

    So I went down a lil Beta Ray Bill black hole recently (*hint hint*), and my oh my do I have high hopes for this dude. Brief background on the character:

    Alien race's protector enhanced with cybernetics that altered his appearance (hence, the HONSE). Fought Thor for the right to wield Mjolnir, as he was the only other person worthy to lift it, and was granted Stormbreaker, the warhammer/hammer-axe duo everyone knows and loves, by Odin after he ~sorta~ beat Thor.

    Source Info: This is where things get complicated. Bill is...how do I put it? An absolute monster.

    6' 7", 480 lbs, so def Size: #L. We're talking super strength, super speed (increased while flying with Stormbreaker to freakin' surpass the speed of light), super stamina/durability, immunity to disease/sickness, strong regeneration, and just a *dash* of nigh immortality. To top it off, Stormbreaker literally opens portals between dimensions...bruh.

    So, to say the least, we have a LOT to work with. Broad strokes, I'm thinkin' a very Recoil-tree-friendly kit featuring power gain, furies, massive crits, and the use of Crush to further decimate.

    Passive Abilities: Always Active

    • +7000 Physical Resistance
    • +7000 Energy Resistance
    Bill's Korbinite muscle tissue has to result in immense resistance to both physical and energy attacks (he basically isn't affected by physical attacks, AND he survived energy blasts that destroyed planets in the comics). This could be substituted with an indefinite +7000 Resistance Up passive. The value of this is very reasonable, considering Absorbing Man's refined form resistance values (+9000 Physical or Energy for Uru and Magma, respectively), or the Resistance Up passive stacking that we see on a maxed Spidey 2099 (at 100 stacks, over 9000).
    • Full Immunity to the effects of Bleed, Poison, Rupture, Wither, and Nullify.
    His Korbinite tissue cannot be penetrated, he cannot be afflicted with any ailment, and his cybernetic enhancements have made him immune to aging. The Wither immunity will come into play later as well...bear with me. Nullify immunity so he wouldn't just be a potato against Mystics, but the opportunity to counter via Stagger, Neutralize, Fate Seal, and Soul Barb still exists.
    • Beta Ray Bill's combat power rate is decreased by 33%.
    Bear with me!

    Basic Attacks:
    • Bill's basic attacks have a 30% chance to grant a Fury buff increasing Attack rating by 15% lasting 20 seconds. Max stack: 10.
    Decreased combat power rate + RNG to build smaller furies over time. There's a method to this madness.

    Heavy Attack: When charging his heavy attack, Beta Ray Bill channels the power of Stormbreaker and gains the following effects:
    • Passively Unstoppable.
    • Power Gain buff granting 33% of a bar of power over 1 second.
    • Regenerate 85% of damage received.
    • Each hit received while charging the heavy attack activates a passive Fury effect on Beta Ray Bill, each increasing attack rating by 30%, and expiring after the next special attack.
    The devs mentioned upon announcing Bill that charging his heavy would be a big part of his kit. Hoping it looks like this!! Also, THIS is why the Wither immunity exists - no one can stop Beta Ray Bill.

    Special Attacks:
    • Upon activation, Beta Ray Bill gains a Cruelty Buff increasing Crit Damage Rating by +3000 and lasting 20 seconds.
    • If activated while charging his heavy attack, gain a Precision passive increasing Critical Rating by +20,000 and lasting the duration of the special attack. After the special attack ends, this passive converts to a Precision buff, increasing Critical Rating by +10,000 and lasting 10 seconds.
    • Knocking down the opponent with a special attack inflicts a 1.5 second Crush passive on them.
    Special Attack 1: Each hit inflicts a Shock debuff lasting 6 seconds. If activated while charging his heavy attack, Beta Ray Bill inflicts Critical Shock passives instead, dealing 150% more damage.

    Because, well, Stormbreaker controls weather. Don't think too hard about it.

    Special Attack 2: Gain a True Sense and True Damage buff, each lasting the duration of the special attack.

    The REAL money-maker. We're talking insane multi-hit, teleportation animations, all just going nuts capitalizing on all the work up to it. Can't be evaded, can't be auto-blocked (thanks Herc), and the damage cannot be reduced (thanks Adam). Magnificent.

    Special Attack 3: Upon activation, gain the following effects:
    • Immunity to Nullify for 60 seconds.
    • Activate an indefinite Vigor passive, increasing all damage dealt to the opponent by 25%. Max stack: 1.
    Because why not make him absolutely unstoppable lol, and introduce Vigor into a champ's base kit for the first time. This also introduces the opportunity for Bill to be used in long form content as well.

    Signature Ability: When charging his heavy attack, Beta Ray Bill uses Stormbreaker to open portals to other dimensions, gaining the following benefits by drawing upon their energies:
    • Pause the duration of all buffs on him.
    • Passive Fury effect potency is increased by 2-10%.
    This was a hard one. I want Beta Ray Bill to be a champ that doesn't NEED it the dupe to be busted, but greatly benefits from it, without locking a gameplay changing piece of utility. The duration of the buffs don't NEED to be paused. But opening the door for a higher stack of buffs is cool. The Fury potency increase is another way to just juice him up even further, and make the pursuit of the sig 200 a "nice thing" to do over time, rather than a necessity.

    So the logic here is not too different than the typical Cosmic thing - build buffs, use specials, big yellow numbers, big yay. However, I would love to see Beta Ray Bill be a champ kinda like Gladiator, where you WANT the defender to hit you while you're charging your heavy, with some built in safeties. Stormbreaker powers Bill up, even further increasing his durability, activating his regeneration factor, and by cancelling into your special you get to reap insane benefits. The Crush passive is there to further punish and get some beefy hits in right after you schmack em down. All in all, the goal is to remain comic accurate but have a logical playstyle and flow.

    Counters: Slow, Stagger, Fate Seal, Neutralize, Soul Barb, Heal Block are what you're looking for here. That, and being good at dex'ing multi-hit specials, lol.

Great job, I was at a loss wondering how Kabam could differentiate BRB from so many great Cosmics but I completely forgot about his metallic parts! So what I would like to see is a clear cut offensive powerhouse and like you I would want an excuse to use him over everyone else. I would keep the immunities largely the same except change the nullify to be petrify, and add concussion.

    -Always active should be a passive true damage and strike (beyond tired of having to reach a special attack just to get the basics out of the way)

    -Also whatever you said about energy and physical damage resistance
    -When Charging heavies he gains power and regeneration (the first time also gains an indefinite fury)

    -When dashing forward or backwards he gains an unstoppable buff for x amount of time before going on cooldown (only if he has launched a heavy attack first)

    -If BRB charges a heavy before striking the opponents block (special, relic, heavy etc) a shock debuff is placed reducing ability accuracy by 15% per shock effect for 6 seconds

    -The SP1 triggers fury based on the amount of debuffs on either opponent and Deals instant shock per hit


    -The SP2 breaks and shatters the opponents armor and places a frostbite effect. Instant shock per hit

    -SP3 keep it the same but pause all debuffs as well (also reduce the nullify immunity significantly. Maybe 25 seconds).

    Signature ability
    -Gain whatever you said about the critical ratings during special attacks...

    -Knocking down the opponent now places an enervate and slow passive for 6 seconds

    -BRB is immune to ability accuracy reduction and power modification while charging or launching a heavy attack

    --Against tech champions or #villains and #Mercenaries become immortal for 10 seconds when being KO'd

    -While immortality is active reflect x amount of damage taken during heavy attacks back on the enemy. (sounds crazy... but lets not forget that this won't be very effective if he can't dash first, if he is rooted, pressed against the wall, plays too passively or immediately hit with something that can still remove his buff than he will die)

    Synergies
    -Make the physical and energy resistance thing a self synergy... IDK why just seems proper

    -Hero's gain something cliche like enhanced willpower potency if the Thor's or Valkyrie is present

    -Give him a Odin synergy that increases BRB's armor rating and block proficiency
    -Odin should be granted a vigilance buff and/or true damage buff during an SP2 and 3.
    since you know... Gungnir is "Never supposed to stop thrusting" and all that.

    then generic stuff after that

    The instant shock damage is a genius idea, I love that - not prevalent enough in-game, and it just makes so much sense for Bill to have it. Also, the “weather effects” on the sp2 are super novel, so sick.

    I will admit I’m a lil confused on the “hitting the block after charging a heavy” - so if it lands, normal damage, if you cancel and whatever hits a block, then it’s the shocks? Idk if I’d like that personally.

    Finally, that’s a LOT that’s locked behind the sig ability, both damage and utility. Kabam’s done a better job with making sig abilities “nice to have” features rather than game-changing ones like this.

    Regardless of those critiques, you my friend have made a masterpiece. Love that Willpower potency synergy, genius. Thanks for writing this out!! NINE MORE DAYS TILL BILL!!!!

    Yeah I'm very excited! Thank you for starting the discussion because I really cannot wait to see what we get.

    -I got the heavy attack idea from Thor Ragnarok, I felt as though there should be a hint of inspiration from the character, plus a lot of people run stand your ground nowadays. Plus charging storm breaker usually has a wind/storm effect which also inspired the idea. Additionally a passive AI will have a harder time if you're just comfortable teeing off on them
    -I feel like cosmic champions in general are so naturally strong that the actual raw damage isn't even a concern for me. Think about it with our two distinct kits you would have a BRB who is recoil friendly, can be buffed by Heimdall, Odin, Serpent, Vox, AND Galan, (outside of other synergies and persistent charges) AND he would work well with any and all cosmic relics, plus half of us are immediately cracking open a 6 or 7 star lol.
    -I will say that the enervate should a base kit ability and maybe I would remove the slow which is covered by the ability accuracy portion.

    • We got Poison and Bleed resistance instead of immunity. Totally fine with it, yay permanent Willpower healing (regen factor!!).
    • Immunity to Shock (shoulda expected it) and Power Drain (combination of the two counters a lot of Techs - looking at you, iDoom).
    The high Physical and Energy Resistances are not completely outta the realm of possibilities yet.
    • Grit - didn't even think of this as a possibility because the only champ to have it is Chee'ilth, but it makes so much sense for Bill. Can't wait to just barrage through Unstoppable champs/nodes all over the Contest.
    So stoked. Hope everyone else is too. Animations are sick.

    I wish he had incinerate resistance or immunity though, Korbinites are known for surviving extreme heat.
    Still a chance for high energy resistance!! Could be a great alternative.

    OP, your Beta Ray Bill ideas would be cool but I highly doubt Kabam will release such Overpowered champion again... after Hercules, I guess there is few chance of that happening again..

    The Beta Ray Bill animation is just released and some of speculation are there too.. not full immunity, some resistance is good I guess.. probably resistance increases with sig level..

    Beta Ray Bill is an insanely powerful character. Now, I know Kabam’s made insanely powerful characters duds (sorry Silver Surfer and Sentry, hopefully you get buffed). However, take a look at Gladiator and Adam Warlock - two insanely powerful recent Cosmic characters from the comics who are insanely powerful in the game.

    What makes Hercules so “broken” in the eyes of the devs is his Immortality ability (which don’t get me started on, he has SO much more than just that lol). That is a reasonable thing to look at and be like “yea, that’s a bit much” since it literally allows you to stay in fights an unreasonable amount of time longer than you should. Yes, aspects of that are tied to the source material in the comics, but the game needs to be more realistic so that it can stay a playable game.

    You could justify an Immortality/Indestructible/Death Immunity ability in Bill’s kit as well, sure. But is that his main thing in the comics? No. Instead, what’s far more stressed is the damage he can deal, and that’s something Kabam’s done well (again, see the damage that Gladiator and Adam Warlock are able to dish out). The Physical Resistance and even Energy Resistance I proposed are a bit of a stretch to expect, but not impossible.

    I think it’s very realistic to see a lot of what I proposed solely because we already see a lot of it in game. Hit me with the Disagree’s and the LOL’s all you want, I stand firm on that.

    I guess.. but as you mentioned regarding Sentry, SilverSurfer etc.. SilverSurfer is mid but has his utility (can be used VS frostbite, incinerate, and shock) gets more damage from those dot. Sentry is desperately in need of rework.. Void easily overshadow him.

    I do wish Beta Ray Bill was more but with what is shared.. he looks solid.. not mid.. since we don't have him yet it's all conjecture and mute at this point in time.. im sort of excited to test him out when he is available for summoners who purchased platinum pass.

    Silver Surfer is good though
    He's decent. Not at all at the power level of Silver Surfer in the comics. As much as I love Adam Warlock as a character in the comics and in the game, Silver Surfer is supposed to be stronger. Think Gladiator and Beta Ray Bill level, borderline limitless.

    I wish he had incinerate resistance or immunity though, Korbinites are known for surviving extreme heat.
    Immunities take up a lot ofspace in a characters kit, if he doesn't specifically need incinerate immunity as a counter to something it's just unnecessary kit padding

So to add it all up… Kabam gave us recoil friendly, Thor relic buffed, armor up removal, shock damage AND passives, buff AND debuff pauses, unstoppable heavy attacks, power gain, shock damage through block, I might pass out 😂 Kabam looked at both Enchantress and BRB and just said “You know what… this time we’re going FULL CANON!”

    They even gave him an immortality connected unstoppable buff for when he’s awoken… I think this is the first time that I’ve written a design for a champ that was LESS powerful than the real version.


    Then theres also a moon dragon synergy that lets him remove 3 armor ups per special attack… a Thor rag buff that lets Thor start off with his Thunder wrath (so in other words it makes him a character that’s actually enjoyable to play…)

    Shout out to @EdisonLaw for putting this thread together. The first thing that I would like to see tested out with the 6 star is if the unstoppable buff actually makes him immune or resistant to Rupture and incinerate (and I believe that it will) at that point I’ll be ready to crown you MCOC Jesus 😂

    It’s finally here, folks. Posting it in my own thread for full comparison to my predictions!

    First off, let me just echo what everyone’s saying - Bill’s an absolute monster. MASSIVE thank you to Kabam Lex for designing an absolute masterpiece. Incredibly well done. Even better than what any of us came up with, but I loved seeing a lot of our predictions be correct/super duper close!!

    Some things I want to pinpoint as things I love:

    1. Unstoppable doesn’t need to go on cooldown if you special intercept and don’t get hit!! That means you don’t even need the second line of the sig ability.

    2. Damage potential: I’ve seen a lot of people complaining about his max damage being locked behind sig 200. I’m sorry, but this is just not at all true - it literally can’t be. 40% increase, either overall or just additively, does NOT mean he can’t deal insane damage.

    5 Intensifies = +100% potency to buffs.
    His Fury Buff on sp1 is a 60% increase in attack rating (value calculated using Kabam Spotlight here: https://playcontestofchampions.com/news/beta-ray-bill/). You can stack these 3 times - time for some quick math.
    100 + 60 = +160% Attack rating. x3 = +480% Attack Rating when at 3 furies.

    Let’s pull that even more forward. The sp1 already increases burst damage by 200% if the shocks expire during the special. Time for some more math. 200 + 480 = 680% increased energy burst damage. This is an insane amount. It doesn’t factor in his sig, nor does it factor in the even further increase in stats due to having a Thor relic (a further 25% increase to everything, which I’m scared to do the math on).

    Now, there’s two options for how the sig factors in. Option A, it’s 40% of the total: so his absolute max burst damage will be +952% increased. Option B, it’s additive: so his absolute max burst damage will be +720% increased. So, everyone concerned about him relying on high sig to do damage, don’t. In the Deep Dive it shows Bill doing almost 950,000 energy burst damage when at 3 furies, max intensify, 12 shocks, with a Thor relic. With Option B, unduped that value goes to roughly 900k. With Option A, unduped that value goes to almost 600k energy burst - if that’s not enough for you, go ahead and take a nice ling walk to do some thinking. It’s insane what his damage potential is.

    3. Not sole reliance on Shock damage - if you guys watched DLL’s Deep Dive with context, he brought up something incredible. On Bill’s sp3, he gets a Resonance Buff, which adds +100% energy burst damage to every single hit. That means, to begin with, you’re now doing 200% damage. But remember - the Intensifies exist. So now it’s 300%. But wait, stack on the Fury Buffs with the sp1. You get where I’m going with this? Shock immunity? No problem. Throw an sp3. Also, the furies are massive. Your basic attacks and special hits are going to do SO much damage, especially if they crit.

    4. Any star level Thor relic works - there is no star level called out. That means throw your 3* Thor relics on your Beta Ray Bills, and it’ll be roughly the same as a r3 6* Thor relic. What an awesome feature.

    5. Focus on gameplay: I love this aspect. In the comics, Bill is an expert in hand to hand combat - everything in his playstyle demands you to be the same. If you want to keep the durations on his Shock, just don’t START your combo with a Medium. You can still use Mediums, just as long as your first hit in your combo isn’t a Medium attack! So cool. Also, demanding you to learn how to special intercept without getting hit is awesome - basically, he’s a more advanced (and arguably more rewarding) version of Hercules. In order to enjoy Bill and go into broken mode, he truly demands a full understanding of his kit as a whole and the skill to pull it all off. I love that.

    Again, I cannot stress enough how well-designed and amazing this character is. I’m blown away. Shocked, you may say (lolll). Wow. Thank you again to the champ designers on this one, you’ve made an amazing product.

    I, for one, will be taking him instantly to r3 next weekend, and I’ll probs take the 6* to r5a sig 200 just because as well, lol. I can’t wait to learn all the little nuances in his kit. Get pumped everyone, and thanks for reading my rambling and offering your thoughts!!
