Morningstar doesn't retain souls in MODOK's Lab events

Numerous times now, when I bring Morningstar on my team to any of the difficulty versions of MODOK's Lab, I will randomly lose my souls I've acquired. I have Guillotine on my team and Morningstar is duped, so I should start a match with two souls, which I do, but then, say, on the next fight with Morningstar, I literally have zero (in fact the blue soul image below her image is complete gone).

Intentional or a bug??
