Event Quest

I am a new player, playing for about less than two months and currently at Uncollected level. My question is about the event quest on higher levels, for example uncollected. I am having difficulties progressing the event quest in higher difficulty. For example against the Abomination fight my champion took probably 1 hit (a light attack) but even when my champion is blocking attacks, my champ is getting poison debuff constantly, losing all health. Just completing the first fight leaving my Rank 1 level 25 six star champions at health around 20%, because of the debuffs.
Do I have to use health potions after almost every fight? (which is insane) or is there any way to avoid those debuffs?

    As you progress, you will learn more about immunities and how to work around certain nodes or champs. The abomination is actually very simple - use a champion that is immune to poison.

    Joe Fixit and Mysterio (when not armor broken) are both poison immune. Either one should make Abom a breeze.
