Why Global Events Are a Poor Business Model

I've been thinking about the Banquet event, and honestly, the concept of a global event feels like a bad business model.
The majority of rewards in this event depend on how much the entire community contributes. This setup makes me, as an individual player, feel completely disconnected from the outcome. When I open my crystals, I don’t see any tangible impact on the rewards. I hit my minimum contribution, then just sit back and wait. There's zero motivation for me to go above that minimum.
Why should I spend $$$ to add another 20-30k points when I know it won’t make any real difference? It’s not like my effort speeds up the reward progression or has any noticeable impact. The system feels like a glorified group project where everyone gets the same grade, no matter how much above minimum they contribute. Honestly, it’s a bit communist.
Instead of feeling encouraged to invest more, I feel the exact opposite. With such a system in place—especially combined with abysmal drop rates in the crystals—I’m not willing to spend even 1$ more than the bare minimum. This kind of structure doesn’t inspire excitement or engagement; it just feels flat and unmotivating.
