Can someone in their right mind explain to me how this match result ends up with ME taking the loss??

So when a connection error happens, it automatically views it as a forfeit? I didn’t even get kicked to Game title screen, it brought me right back to Battlegrounds screen within a second of the error message.

No, it assumes the connection was lost and it can't start a 2nd and/or 3rd round. Being disconnected is key on this issue. Should the other person take a loss just cause you disconnected?... Don't you see that this would be highly exploitable if it didn't work the way it works? Winning 1st round and putting the phone in airplane mode would give you infinite wins.
