They always were, but the advantage to the livestreams was the community engagement, which use to happen. I don't think anyone ever complained when all of our updates were just posts on the forums, because at least it was consistent and gave the appropriate detail. The livestreams became a fun way for the community team and the community to connect with one another, but that was starting to fade before the pre-recorded stream anyway.

The stream was pre-recorded because they were likely on holiday. Or, they didn't want to hear the banquet backlash

The stream was pre-recorded because they were likely on holiday. Or, they didn't want to hear the banquet backlash I've got no issue with a pre-recorded video, and the timing make sense. But they could've communicated that ahead of time. They deserve a break and no one can be upset that they took one, but they could've told people they'd be gone for over two weeks. They could've delayed the stream until they got back to work (which is hopefully today). Anything that has happened is far more palatable when we know it's happening, and that's the part that they don't seem to understand anymore. There's a blatant lack of respect for the community when the team can't take 5 minutes to give us a heads up on what's happening, especially when the job is community engagement. Keeping the community in the loop on stuff like this isn't giving away secrets, but keeping the community out of the loop on stuff like this is the majority of the frustration. The pre-recorded stream is simply a symptom of a bigger problem.

They also didn't give us info on Arcade and/or Northstar rebalancing, which I guess we'll find out today
