The entire team laid off though the game is huge success.
Sad for them.
I really dont understand why this happened? This is really bad move.

Wish the team all the best.

The amount of misinfo regarding the team being laid off is crazy

You looked better as Mantis, Amora doesn't suit you
I’ll do you one better, why is Gamora?

Stop with half ass information, not even the main team.

The team which was laid off was there to develop baseline features, now that the game is fully and functional, company don't need them anymore as their main focus now is to balance and skin selling.

I just hope whoever designed Invis woman and Psylocke doesn't get laid off, ever 🎉

They really knew what they were doing with those designs😂

This week, NetEase, who created Marvel Rivals, laid off its entire NA dev team including Thaddeus Sasser. This team is responsible for how the game plays, all of the maps, destruction, momvement, gunplay model, etc. This team built it all from the ground up. They took the idea and built out every single thing you see hear and feel right now.

Imagine launching a top game and then gutting the team that did it. Mind you, Marvel Rivals is down 50-60% on player base and viewership, but surely that wouldn't call for the team to be gutted so quickly, right? Perhaps things are looking more grim than we think?

    Wild world we live in.

Layoffs are very common in IT landscape.

Don't they get hired with a period contract and then bye bye for most game projects?

No. It's very, very common to lay off the majority or a dev team once a live service game is launched and is known whether or not it can survive with minimal staff. Same thing happened to mcoc. It happens with all mobile/and some console live service games like fortnite etc.

Problem with MCOC is that it's noticeable.
