If you have the units and have been chasing one of those champs, it's not the worst deal imaginable. That honor would go to spending hundreds and thousands of units and/or dollars on RNG crystals and revives to not even end up getting what you wanted in the first place...
They were always 9500 and Spunk is worth it. @ me on that
+1. When it came time, I said yes, and no regrets.... (On an unrelated note, does anyone know where I can get some cheap T4A to rank up Silk for EoP???)
400 bucks for a single champ is not the worst deal?
It's not 400 bucks for everyone. People grind arena and collect units elsewhere from the game and can save up a bunch pretty easily. Is it so clear that there is a better way for them to spend their units?
Units have lost their value anyway, stop thinking 3k units is worth 100 bucks, what you can do with 3k units in game is not even close to what you were able to do with 100 bucks years ago. There is a reason why unit deals went up in cost.

Units = dollars only if you buy units with dollars. Otherwise, it's just game currency that has no dollar value and you can spend it however you want without any consternation. [Edit: pretty sure I don't know the meaning of "consternation" but still going to leave it there.]

I went all in on Titans for months trying to get him, hording basics the whole time. Never got him out of the Titan, but did get him out of my second to last basic the day he rotated in. Used a science AG on him, took him to r3 immediately. I’m bummed he’s not my profile champ anymore since I took the Monke to r4 with a skill gem, but his time will come again soon.
So, yes, I’d have spent 9500 units for him if I didn’t already have him.

I'm actually talking about an indirect way of dealing with inflation. As I said Units haven't changed price to buy since release of the game. The only way to make that 100 dollars be at par with inflation is loweing the value of what those units can get you. If you buy the units 100 bucks is worth 3100 if you were to sell units (which obviously in this game is not allowed), you would probably have to sell 5k-6k units to make it worth 100 bucks. There is a reason why 4th and CM deals are so high now.

9,500 units is easily over a month of arena grinding. Spending 9,500 units from arena might be worse than just spending for it.

Fair enough, but I guess it begs the question: what is a good deal in the game to spend units on? Seems like "nothing" is the answer based on forum sentiment about how all the deals suck (banquet included)....

Even banquet bundles aren’t this bad, 1 single champ for 9,500 units, call it 2 months of arena grinding. Spend multiple days in arenas to buy a single mediocre champ.

Its a cash grab if you consider buying it. I personally don't go to the market and look at the prices of EVERY single product saying "OMG 1.99 for a pound of figs?! What a cash grab!! I hate figs!!!" You already said they were bad champs (which is probably not true for some players); but if you think they are bad why are you even looking at the price?

He really wants the dupe and ideally high sig. The dupe alone makes him worth ranking because it gives him the encore passive which is incredibly fight control utility. High sig is nice to have because it’s a ton of free ruptures. I brought mine to 160, so that there’s a 90%+ chance of applying rupture when the opponent throws a repeated special (they’re always repeated)

Maybe "mediocre" in an objective sense judging strictly based on who's the most effective champ in the most competitive formats. But I think there is something to be said about this being a game first and foremost. I know people who bought the 9500 7* Venom deal and are happy to have done it. They downloaded this game to play with Venom, and enjoy doing it. They didn't download this game to get champs like Enchantress and Photon just because those are the champs everyone gets and invests in for strictly competitive reasons.

He doesn't need the dupe imo. I just ended up pulling him 3 or 4 times. What's important is that you have the 2 Physical Vulnerability Debuffs active when you throw the SP2, and get the guitar strum mini-game perfect to inflict the 4th bonus rupture. None of that is affected by the sig.
