Hi all,
So I 100% Ares quest, as f2p I'm pretty happy with that.
However, r3 to r4 skill gem was my least wanted lol
Here's my options

    Don't go for bullseye he's pretty much useless since he gets the job done in defense at R3 thats if they don't have a counter for bullseye. But if they do have a counter he's basically useless even at R4.

    Bullseye will always be insta ban for BG. He’d be a great AW defender though.

    I’d go bones, the damage would be immense.I can imagine a rank 4 would slip through the ban net but shut so much down.

    Mines a Sig125, that’s for 75% purify so seems like a good balance

    Im not sure how safe bullseyes defensive value is. Okoye will nuke him. Theres dazzler, gentle coming. Theres already some counters.

    But my big concern is all the threads that came crying about him when he was newer. Kabam will use that to introduce wayy more counters.

    As a general rule, I would not give a primarily defensive champ a new rank while it is still rare. Kabam has a long history of releasing direct counters to these defensive champs, and it will feel terrible to have invested so heavily in something like that just so see them get obsoleted by new attackers (slowly happening to Bullseye already).

    Of your options, I voted Chee’ilth because she’s a utility heavy champion that thrives in long fights. She works in stuff like BGs but is usually not a top choice because she’s just a little on the slow side of most matchups, but the extra rank would speed her up. She’s an extremely safe champion to play, and she’s a sneaky potent defender since she can bleed or crit into block and shrugs parry stuns with her cleanse charges. She’s also just extremely tanky, so she’s useful as a stall defender. I was torn between her and the Monkey for my r4 and ended up going Monkey for the bit, but Chee is one of my favorite skill champs.

    I think Crossbones is great, but I can’t advise you to put a generic into him when he’s in the basic pool and also class gems are entering the game more regularly.

    Shang Chi is also a great champ, but I think he falls into that “does what he needs to do at r3” category. The extra damage would be cool, but ultimately he does enough with a single sp2 rotation at r3 that I don’t think he needs to go up early.

    Waiting for champs that may never come is just not a good plan. If you wanted to wait for Okoye, I could see some sense in that.

    Shang does a lot but I have more fun playing Chee.

    If they 7* Kate or Kingpin it’s obviously one of them.

    I'm not banning even a 7R4 Bullseye if I have my 6* Sinister.
    And that's not even accounting for other counters that other people have like Gentle and Dazzler and others...
    I actually think Bullseye is a great attacker so a 7R4 would be nice on that front. I personally used my Bullseye to clear several fights in the AoA content. He made it easy.
