Cannot use 1-2 Heart of fire rank gem on Dark Phoenix

I have a 1-2 7* Heart of Fire rank up gem which says can be used for Dark Phoenix, but when I go to use it Dark Phoenix is not an available champion. Nor when I go to Rank up Dark Phoenix does the gem appear as usable.

Yes, she is still rank 1 and has been leveled up.

I submitted a ticket to Kabam, which was closed and marked solved with no response or actual resolution.

Anyone else experienced this?

    That's regular Phoenix, not Dark Phoenix.

    That’s Phoenix, not Dark Phoenix. 2 different champs.

    Didn’t they change regular Phoenix's design, to make her look “darker, more sinister”.

    Nice, let's do that at the same time we issue a different actual “Dark” version of her, and then have people see the new design of the OG and assume it is the new Dark one instead, when just looking at one instead of both side-by-side.
    (so that's a little bit understandable, even though the champ name they shown does only say “Phoenix”)

    That was probably some of the issues with the various graphics and such showing either of the 2 champs, and getting the stuff confused between the 2 earlier.

    I saw the normal phoenix as a 7* on my roster and went "holy ****, I didn't know I had Dark Phoenix as a 7*" o py to then realise that it was just OG

    In case no one has said ot yet. That's normal Phoenix, not dark phoenix
