Please make it optional to sell these since we're "decluttering" the game...

It would be reasonable to make selling (or trading) these an option.

And, these items below should be automatically removed whenever the event they're associated with is over.

Rank up resources and gems can't be removed since they're still obtainable in game. So it's the same whether or not *you* have the item or not.

I don't know they keep the other things in game though. Maybe as some sort of relic.

I didn't say to remove rank up resources, I said to make selling them an option basically for that very reason.
As someone mentioned in the other thread, it becomes an Mcoc Moral Hazard. People will start hoarding resources instead of using them if it became a norm that rank up gems and other resources were all sellable.

They want you to use them. And try out different champs. People will rank up champions with gems that they otherwise would not. But if it became a norm, they would just hold it for the hope that it might become something else in the future

They can just offer 100 pcs of gold for the 5* rank up gems. That is not going to inspire a massive, game-wide hoard. The reason so many resources are already piled up or "hoarded" is because as the game and our accounts progress, we no longer need them.

Other items such as event keys, should be removed once the event is over. They can't be hoarded since there is no further use for them.

The easy misses on the decluttering movement are the craziest ones. Yes, I definitely need that Hasbro ticket from 2022(?) to remind me that I never won the contest for a toy I would've just sold for $10.

Lol right? Thanks for the reminder 😂

Being able to sell the gems isn't really a problem to solve though. The problem is the stuff that no longer needs to exist. 5* AGs are still used, so being able to sell them doesn't really declutter because the code still needs to be in the game. It's the obselete stuff they've let sit in the game for years that needs to go. Why can't these outdated items just be coded out two updates down the road?

Tbh I don't know. Did it require more than one to get the selector? Who was in that crystal?

If you want this option just because, that’s one thing. But you yourself asserted that this was a reasonable option to include because the crystal clean up implied a desire to “declutter” the game. But the crystal cleanse is not intended to “declutter” the game of individual crystals, its sole purpose is to remove crystal *types* from the game. So that rationale doesn’t apply here.

It said they were only for the 7* champs? And that was a while ago, so I don't remember everything about that event since I wasn't interested in it lol

I wasn't talking about crystals though. I understand that's more an effort to assist the server. But the ACTION is removing outdated resources. That's what I was referencing since that's going to be happening. Why stop at the crystals when you can do a sweep of other outdated stuff, like the event keys, also?

Really wish these limited-time event items could be traded in for exclusive profile pics, titles, or emotes. Gives them a sense of exclusivity and rarity

It’s hard to say if the said event will return again so we can use those items again. For example there was old accolades item from year 2023 that couldn’t be used for 2024.So that’s an unnecessary clutter that could otherwise have been fixed to offer us to exchange those old items into golds.

A good example would be the symbiote rank up materials why they werent removed but then they came out with another event with him yrs later so we were able to use those and get him ranked up

The buff randomisers were used in two events several months apart as well, but haven't been used literally in years.

From the player facing side, it probably make sense. But from the server clean up side, possibly not. The special event stuff might not take up the same inventory database space, which means conversely freeing it wouldn’t have the same benefit.

We gain two separate things by removing a crystal. We can dump the resources associated with that item - graphics, etc - and we no longer have to track the actual inventory counters. But it’s unlikely we actually get the space back on inventory, due to the complexities of database compaction. Rather, we get to reuse the space for other newer crystals down the road rather than have to expand the databases.

Since that special event stuff is only created very infrequently, ditching them might not have the same benefit. They might not need to get refreshed on game updates in the same way as crystal vault contents, and the inventory space they use might not gain much if it is cleared for reuse. Probably why it isn’t flushed with crystals is because that stuff is in a different place, requiring different work to clean out, and it’s not worth the extra time time spent by the data team to do it.

We know what happens when we delete a crystal. We’ve done it many times before. But that other stuff might have other stuff going on that requires extra thought and checking to make sure it’s safe to delete. 99.9% sure it’s safe still means someone has to check the last 0.1%.
