They work together, he just doesn't get power drained.

Chavez shuts down the power gain, though.

They dont want players to use armor break.
They want players to use nullify or aar.

I don't know off the top of my head if that is a situation where the node effects can be bypassed. However, even if it isn't, there's another possibility. You're probably thinking about the nodes in the order they are listed. Your brain is processing the first one, then wondering what's the point of the second one. Flip them around. Imagine the designer added the second one first, then added the first one afterwards. They wanted the second node's effects, but then decided to turn off the armor break effect and so made the defender immune to armor break.

All things being equal, the designers would prefer to use nodes that already exist rather than asking a node designer to add a custom node that does exactly what they want but might only be used every once in a while.

That was my initial reaction, but then I tried looking up where Armored and Charged had previously been used and I came up with nothing (Auntmai - outdated, contest wiki - probably outdated, plain old google/reddit).

Technically Armor Break Passives would work, but I can’t think of any character in the game that can do that off the top of my head.

Alright, assuming this website is updated it’s just not possible unless the defender is specifically Iron Patriot.
