No, they gave you a chance to get lucky. Which is one more chance than what we had before. If you get a Christmas card, and inside the card is a scratch ticket, and you lose, do you tell the person "Thanks for nothing! Merry Scammas!".
Yes
Then they're not going to give you anything next Christmas.
Thankful for something free, but honestly I’m a bit puzzled. Not sure why anyone can be gifted something that can’t even be utilized once they get it. 🤷🏼♂️
My grandma uaed to give me stuff I can't or won't use every xmas...

How so? A gift is a gift. We're not owed it.
It's not a gift if it's basically a psychologically manipulative advertisement embedded into your stash to remind you everyday that you'll never be able to use those "free" shards unless you pay for the remaining necessary shards. Each possible item in this gift should've been something theoretically usable without having to pay money. If you can't see how that's a dirty tactic then you're either a bad faith troll or a good faith moron.
It's a gift. People can cry all day about how it's a slap in the face, but it's 5k Shards they never had before. Many Players will roll something they can't immediately use. They're not unique in that. If people don't have the decency to say "Thanks anyway.", then they shouldn't give anyone any chance to win something at all. I'm all for complaining when it's warranted. This is pure entitlement plain and simple.

And what exactly are they gonna do with those 5* shards? Where can they actually use them? Your missing the entire point here....

It's not a gift, the 5k shards are a predatory tactic to entice you to spend, people will think it's 10k shards as well so they'll spend again and realise they still need a further spend, as it's 15k shards. It's completely disgusting, along with alot of other sales thing they've done this year, utterly shameful

Fine. Next time we get nothing. No one wins a 7*. No one gets the Gems. No one gets anything for free. That way everyone can be miserable like the people complaining. Is that what people want? Ridiculous. Entitlement plain and simple.

My point is their tactic.. you've bypassed that completely.. they deliberately put the 5k shards in and weighed the odds to it for the purpose of fishing.. I'm happy for everyone that got what they got, and if there was a way to EARN the 10k needed for crystal then the 5k is a good open..

I'm not white knighting for Kabam. I find it incredibly disrespectful that they gave us all a free roll and people are acting this way because they didn't get something they wanted. It's almost 11 years in. We know this is how RNG works. The game has been built around it. I get being upset the roll didn't go the way we wanted. Been there many times. To say they gave us nothing, and call it predatory, and this and that....too far. We each got a roll. We got what we got. That's how RNG works, and if people don't like that, they're playing the wrong game.

That's the thing tho. You don't just open the key and find out you got nothing. You open it, see you got some shards, and then eventually find out those shards mean nothing if you don't spend money. Its the fact that it raises your hopes before breaking you down. It would have been a much wiser choice from Kabam to actually just put 3 nothings in the chest. At least that way, people would immediately know what they got and couldn't be disappointed further.

That's a good point. So I retract my previous statement that there should be a few nothings in the box, and instead think that the wisest choice for kabam would be to not include shards in the box. They should've replaced the 3 shard pulls, with 3 saga 1-2 gems.
