Rebalancing Cadence Issues Revealed - Playing with our favorite champions will now be bittersweet
This spider-woman fiasco has opened my eyes to how horrible the entire rebalancing cadence is. At the moment, I am genuinely terrified that Karolina, my new favorite champion by far, is going to get nerfed in 2 months. I personally have no stake in spider-woman, since I haven't gotten her. Yet this drama still effects me greatly. I spent 3 months hoarding my rewards (depriving me of many rewards for 3 entire months) to get Karolina, gave her rank 4 materials and an awakening gem a week after I got her. I completely fell in love with this character and continue to more so every day.
Now for the next 2 months every time I use her and try to enjoy how powerful, versatile, and tanky she is, it will be spoiled with the bitter taste that this performance may be temporary, and that she could be performing worse in 2 months.
Is this really healthy for the game? Players waiting for 3 months to open crystals for a specific character, and another 3 months to actually use them (aka risk falling in love with them)? This nerf is building an environment that will encourage players AGAINST using and ranking champions until they know the character is in a stable and permanent state.
This never really hit me until now because characters like onslaught, photon, serpent, Jean, Bastion, etc were all left as is (offensively and defensively). I didn't worry about a character I loved getting worse because it hadn't been done to these amazing champions. Now I greatly fear for Karolina, and feel sorry for all the people fearing for Nico as well even though I personally don't care for her.
I really hope Kabam takes this seriously. People should not be fearful to enjoy a new champion they spent 3 months of their life earning, OR HUNDREDS / THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO BUY. The champion development, testing, and rebalancing cycle needs to change DRASTICALLY.
