What's the point in investing anything in new champs?

Pretty simple question. I considered using some items on Karolina and Nico (if I ever pull her). But I don't want to awaken those champs and rank them up if they'll just get nerfed like Spider Woman did.

So Kabam, why should I invest any resources into new champs you create when you can turn around and change them months later?

You shouldn't. You do so at your own risk and it has been that way since the rebalance program was introduced. Unfortunately the community wasn't as passionate about bad ideas then as it is now, so we get to sit and wonder if Kabam will turn our good decisions into bad ones. It's not worth investing R4 materials at the very least unless you're in a position where they're coming in at a good rate.

The decisions Kabam can make, and the decisions they do make, are too volatile to trust with valuable resources, and they've put themselves into a position where they don't have to do anything about it if they don't want to.

My question is…If Kabam says Spiderwoman's defense is OP, why do I have to continue to ban her in BG's until Jan26? It is pretty clear that Kabam wants you to pony up money to get a "chance" to play an OP champ for 6 months.

heck, not even “new champs.” You could be a Titania fan and have her SP3 rotation nerfed due to silk getting a stun lock she wasn’t intended to have. And that was a loooong time after she was released.

I’m totally with you on this. I’m well aware that Kabam can change who they like, when they like. But this feels so trash when you get a brand new character that you saved titan shards for, maybe even used a gem on and siged up gets nerfed. I for one will say that I cannot and will not be ranking up any new champs until their rebalancing come out from now on because of this

Don't invest in Karolina or Nico. If Spider Woman was nerfed, there is no way either of those 2 escape a nerf.

By their logic. Nico is supposed to have a 3.5/5 Utility. Buff immunity from the start along with her other abilities is WAYYYYY over a 3.5 Utility (the same Utility they claim Spider Woman will have without ensnare).

Same here. I've been chasing Nico since her release. No luck so far. Did manage to pull & dupe Karolina, though. She'll sit at R2 until her "balance" notes come out. I also saw Nico crystals are back in the grace system. I'm not that many crystals away from a guaranteed Nico, but I'm thinking I'll save my units. Newer champs are worth the full rank investment until they're cleared…

I think Kabam is yet to realize how much money the SW nerf is going to cost them in the long run. From people stop buying grace crystals to spending on the top tier resource materials to rank up the new "powerful" champ as soon as possible. Ofc not everyone will do that but certainly it will affect many players spending habits. They really should adopt a rule in the future - buffing a new champ can be done anytime, nerfing should be done maximum in a month from that champion being released.

For me it isn't just the nerf, nor is it even the ridiculous justification for it. It's the lack of response to the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the nerf from the community.

That, along with everything else and I just don't have any faith in the company at this point. Hardly worth going through the motions for daily/weekly rewards, not to mention BG and arena grinding for CM sales cuz what's the point? If they're going to make horrible decisions and just hide in the office, why continue?

And then get **** rewards out of NM raid chests lol.

Every move lately feels like it's meant to punish their customer base and not reward. It's sad.

It was "fine" when the balance program was reviewing champs every 3 months or so... Now the time gap is long enough to even question the purchase of any new champ at all.

I would understand if Spiderwoman was so over power as a defender but this isn't even close to need a nerf. The Kabam rating as so many have pointed out doesn't always make sense. I'm pretty sure nobody thought that hey I think the Spiderwoman shouldn't have the one extra untility of ensnare cause that makes her so overpowered for offense. This is strictly a Kabam looking at their data and saying you know what Spiderwoman will hurt future champ sales with this one utility. Otherwise it doesn't make sense.

Really ask yourself how often a champion actually receives a nerf. Just because they nerf a new champion 5 months after release, doesn't mean every champ is going to lose something in their kit.

I Saved 10 plus titan and 2 nexus titans but couldn't get spider woman. I was saving r4 gem for her and awakening class gem too. But with this news i gave it to photon. r4 Her and pumped sigs too. Kinda happy i didn't get her yet 🤣🤣🤣

This is a bit dramatic. All Champions are subject to review. Not all Champs will be toned down. Some receive tune-ups. In any case, I see no sense in not investing in them. That's Just not playing at all. If that's how you feel, then just quit.

It's not that every champ will be tuned down. It's that we don't know which ones will, and that carries inherent risk that Kabam knows but we don't. And if a champion is tuned down, that's a lot of resources that are all but lost. They could have been invested elsewhere into something meaningful that had more value now that the tune-down is announced. It's fairly common principle in finance that as risk increases, the desire to invest decreases. So it's not dramatic to ask Kabam how we should invest with such uncertainty.

If she received a nerf when no one was complaining about her, it's hard to trust other champions won't be nerfed. I hadn't seen a single post asking for her to be toned down anywhere.

Nico with buff immunity from the start. Clearly an OP ability. In most peoples eyes she has much more Utility than Spider Woman. She has immunities, abilities, she has miss, etc.

Nico and Spider Woman are both rated as 3.5/5 on Utility by Kabam. If you take away the ensnare from Spider Woman and she is still supposed to be a 3.5/5. Surely Nico is going to get brought down for being too strong?

Even with ensnare, Nico provided more Utility than Spider Woman. It's just hard to follow the logic. There is no way a sane rebalance team can look at Spider Woman and say her utility was too high for a 3.5/5, we need to remove ensnare. Then that same rebalance team is going to look at Nico as a 3.5/5 and say she's good to go. It just doesn't make sense by the metrics Kabam themselves have laid out. It means people looking ahead have to believe other champs are getting nerfed.

We wouldn't have the 3.5/5 rating etc on our own. Kabam provides them as a metric for how they want the champs to act. They bring it on themselves by allowing people to compare.

Spider Woman without ensnare has slightly more Utility than Hulk, who is rated as a 1.5/5. She's supposed to be 3.5/5.

Both poison immune, Hulks furies are already passive so you don't need to worry about Neutralize/fate seal, etc.

Hulk reduces combat power of opponents, has a level of degen resistance, stun locks.

SW has the evade on her sig for the last hit of a special and an evade when the opponent is unstoppable/evades.

Those differences don't feel like enough to justify the 1.5 vs 3.5 ratings.

The balance program is just one aspect of the problem. Kabam is searching to nerf every and any champion that don t applies to its needs or money extortion tactics. We ve already seen this multiple times, having a pretty old champ get the "rebalance treatment" because someone noticed a "bug" (mole man, shocker, okoye, etc etc).

With the exception of the ones you have to pay to get, aka and trophy champs and Dark Phoenix.

That has ALWAYS been the case. Any Champ is subject of review. This is honestly the first one in quite a while that's been this popular. They're not neutering Champs left, right, and center.

People can invest however they want, but the idea that you can't Rank Champs for fear of nerf is dramatic at best. Nor can you only rely on one Champ. There are literally hundreds. The game is about having options.

You are right, nerfs have not happened too often.

I am bothered by the BS reasoning, the gaslighting and hypocrite response of why the nerf is happening.

The time doesnt make it better either, if they would have kept their balancing program on time some champs wouldn't have been invested on as heavily.

So I normally really enjoy the announcement of new Champs, I am a big Marvel comics fan and celebrate the big names (Jean Grey) and lesser (Gentle) that make it into the game. But since the Spider-Woman buff announcement came out, I don’t really care about Franken-Castle and Dracula. Why get excited? I’ll wait six months to see if they receive undeserved nerfs and by then who will really care.
