Is Gentle bugged?

I really like Gentle, he’s so fun to play in my opinion. I just took my 7*r4 to sig 200 with the help of the compensation. (Thank you Kabam) I was really excited to completely negate his built in recoil but for some reason I’m still taking damage. I’m throwing my specials while the unstoppable is active and I still take about 2% max health worth of damage. Am I missing something/ misread his awakened ability or is he bugged? Any info would be appreciated, Thank you.
