What exactly does that ↑ mean???

Please bare with me, I'm new. I did my searches here and on reddit, while there are similar discussions, they do not directly address what I want to ask.

So why am I not eligible for any rank reward for the Gifting event, when I single-handedly pushed our (not solo event points but..) alliance points over a milestone? I mean I'm putting in the needed points aren't I? What exactly am I missing.

Rank requirements for other Solo/ Alliance rewards are easier to understand, but I find myself lost with this one.

Thanks in advance!
Happy Holidays and such.

It means you need to reach that 2,200 in gifting to reach that milestone to claim it.

You can't just gift a refill and then claim all milestone rewards, you have to gift enough to claim the milestones as you go.

(Sorry I forgot to mention it in my OP)

I dont really remember the exact numbers but several times before that one in the image, there were other lower numbers. Each time I got past a certain number, it just went up and said i need to contibute so and so amount. So if i reach this 2,200 amount, itll just go up and say i need to contribute a new minimum.

    So whats the deal here?

Your alliance is way ahead of what you have been contributing. You need to gift a minimum to claim each milestone. If your alliance already has milestone 6 for example, and you are only at milestone 2. Then there is a minimum for milestone 3, 4, 5, and 6. The number is obviously higher the higher the milestones get to. Look at milestone 6, look at the minimum you need, and you will be able to claim all the lower milestones as well.

Thats me at rank 1. I dont understand what you mean by them contributing more than me?
Do you mean I have to hit milestone 6? This is the Alliance Events tab btw, NOT the solo tab. Im already past milestone 8 on the solo gifting event.

Kabam has set the event up to require a minimum level of giving by each member for each milestone. At the most basic level, they want each member to “spend” a certain amount to qualify at each milestone. What that means is that you need 2,200 points to be able to claim milestone 6, regardless of where you rank individually in your alliance. And each milestone will go up from that 2,200, so even if the alliance hits milestone 7 collectively, each member will need something like 3,000ish points to be able to claim milestone 7.

Cheap? You betcha. But that’s how it works.

Thank you Dr Zola, this really clears up the part about earning for those points.

As a follow up ~ what's the point then of me trying to beat each milestone number - if consistenly the event just says I'm not eligible for any of the rank rewards? - does this mean that I (or the entire alliance for that matter) need to reach the maximum milestone in order to qualify for any of the rank rewards?

What it means is that Kabam wants you to spend more.

Again, not what you want to hear, but that’s how this “Gifting” thing works.

The stated rationale is that they want to prevent players from joining an alliance that has all milestones unlocked and just gifting a nominal gift in order to get all prizes. That happened a couple of years ago—an alliance would unlock all milestones and then “charge” a fee of 3 GGCs to join and get all the prizes. Players joined, paid, and then exited the ally with a cost full of prizes. Not as much of an issue today since there are blackout periods. But the minimums remain nonetheless.

    I just realized something.
I think the fact that the warning message is constantly displayed on the Event is simply what's causing me the confusion.

It says: "You must contribute points towards this event to be eligible for rank and milestone rewards"

But in other event announcements, a warning message that reads "Unlock Rank Rewards by reaching ______ points" is displayed in red until you reach that number. After which, the warning message goes away and then you become eligible for the rank rewards.

With the gifting event, I realized that I was already able to claim the Alliance Gifting Event's 1st milestone reward a few days ago. But all this time, I'm under the impression that I'm not eligible for the rank rewards simply because of the presence of that warning message.

I was under the impression that I haven't been contributing to anything, despite being the top rank. So I guess it's safe for me to assume that I'm qualified for any of the rank rewards despite that message still being there yes?
