I will say that this is the first time I've ever felt the need to post anything on forums. I'm a guy of very modest skills in this game so to get the accomplishments that I have has cost me an extraordinary amount of money. When I heard that Sentry was coming out I felt that no way would they make a champ of that kind of caliber a bad one. I though he was most definitely gonna be one of the best. So I spent even more cash buying up as many 5* shard deals as I could I could buy the Sentry feature crystals. To my amazement I had what I thought at the time the most amazing lucky pull. I got not just 1 but I got 2 Sentry. I used 60,000 shards. Later I find out how broken and worthless Kabam made what should have been one of the greatest of all time champs in the game. Nothing is as it should. Not even the damage boost with warps. I have since the and even now feel sick to my stomach at to the severity of this massive let down. I fear my gaming with Kabam games may be over soon.

Sorry man. I feel your pain. They absolutely ruined him. Don't let it ruin you.

    Let me save everyone time:

Sentry is one of the worst champs they’ve put out in awhile.

His regen is weak. Real weak.

His crit rate makes him hit like he has his hands covered in pillows.

His abilities can be difficult to use and the payoff is to little.

He will die agaisnt magik and dorm in AW as an attacker.

I gotta say if anyone at kabam thinks he’s good their other option to play was someone like shehulk.

    He’s a true clunker
  • So why not give Sentry a synergy with Psylock and Phoenix to increase the chance of a specific state of mind? Both Psylock and Phoenix are ok champions but could be improved with this synergy and it makes sense as they are telepathic mutants.

Guys what if Void will increase sentry's stance change chance with void's own synergies?

Just want to make sure the reason you edited his sig description to show X’s yesterday was just to have placeholders until you add the level 1-level 99 figures? Just seems to be taking awhile for info I think would be readily available.

Spotlight sig description still just shows X’s.

I have done a few different tests now I just can’t see where this champ is going to do great damage in long fights he doesn’t do great damage anywhere. I feel we were lied to on that case what we were told and what we were given are two different things Rhino would do more damage in a short or long fight than this guy

@Kabam Miike is this truly how this champ is supposed to work if so you guys brutally messed up and produced likely one of the bottom 5 champs in the game

I agree I’m terribly disappointed, I’ve saved up for a long time for this. He’s basically omnipotent in the marvel universe and yet most of my 3* roster can outperform sentry at 5* in this game.

Sentry is disappointing but what else do you expect from them

I suppose I CAN see why it's only a 30% chance for each state. I think Kabam wants Sentry to be a long fight master. Lets say you're fighting ROL WS and you finish that fight with all 5 stacks of all his reality warp states. I imagine the next fight with CM would be so damn fast due to him being at "max power" (and if he's awakened for it to carry over).

But at the same time, 30% chance Kabam? Well idk, we'll have to wait and see. This community really gets riled up at times before things are out not knowing the full context so Sentry may be god tier at "max power" idk.

Another thing, it's possible that his passive 40 hit reality warp added extra chance for his state of minds to proc (You know, cuz it's what it basically says) so it's possible with say 3 reality warps the chance to proc his States are now at 60% chance and say at 5 Warps it's now at 80% chance so at about a 200-300 hit combo, you'll be gaining those warps like nothing meaning they REALLY want him to be a SL type character (which I'm fine with)

The key to Sentry is "Momentum". He is great in longer fights, and with his Signature ability, he is great at longer quests. The thing to imagine when you're going through these cycles is that you're in a roulette with only 4 options, and each time you go through that cycle, you have a chance of one of those options being super charged. It may only be 30% chance per cycle, but that 30% can mean a world of difference!

He can burst out a ton of damage, and then be knocked out of a combo, take no damage, and then regain that ability in another 10 hit combo. That's not something to overlook, especially in the Science Class, where there really aren't many Champions capable of doing something like this.

Can we see a video of this because I pulled him today and at 400 hit combo vs WS he was producing squat. Took a hit just yo see what would happen and nada.

I've been studying a couple of Sentry videos to see how the states work. Sentry's damage seems *very* sensitive to power cycle synchronization. In other words, if you trigger OL and you have a buffed SP1 that only does you any good if you happen to have about one bar of power. If you have two, you're likely going to miss out on that buff because your SP2 isn't buffed and by the time you build back up to one bar you will be in another state. To get the best results you have to try to keep your power in the right place to take advantage of the state buffs *if* they occur. Which doesn't sound easy.

If you can, my back of the envelope calculations suggest he could do a lot more damage than initial testing suggests. For example, I saw one video of a 4/55 Sentry taking 445 hits to bring down Winter Soldier (RoL) but in the entire fight out of eleven times one of the three attack buffs was triggered the attacker only used one special attack that got buffed by those cycle buffs. It was a special two that landed with four warps for a total of about 38,486 damage. That fight also had some of the worst luck I've seen video evidence of: the first 160 combo hits generated zero buffs (the fight ended up averaging out close to 30% by the end though: eleven triggers out of 33 state changes for 33%). My rough estimate is that optimal special attack and heavy attack usage at roughly the statistical average those buffs occur would reduce a 446 attack run on WS to something closer to 320. That's extremely rough: it could be anywhere between 270 and 350.

The data I'm using comes mostly from this guy's Sentry videos:

Mine is 5* r3. I manage to kill in 463. But....

Thalion thank you extremely difficult character to time your attacks with I’ve got to imagine that there is power hidden there somewhere will be interesting to see what difference his synergy with Void makes

I guess I'm glad I went 0/5 on him ha

You won’t when you need a boost in prestige
  • Big fan of sticking with the source material and despise how kabam just ignores it. Blade and stark Spider-Man are average strength characters but god like in the game and now are creating an environment that’s identical to Scarlett witch and dr strange days. I’m all for nerfing those champs and at the same time beefing other champs. Sentry should be the power level of blade and not this “power of new born baby” state he’s in atm

Well, i not a big comics fan, but just looking at a game mechanic we can say is very unfair

Sentry sould be the more powerful character in the Marvel universe. The state of mind should be one on top of the other one, if Sentry n entering in the first state of mind, but I got the L2/L3 ready, how can I do the L1? 30% is ridiculous... at least the 30% should be multiplacated by the reality warp. @Kabam Miike

@Kabam Miike given the fact that you have to work to use up specials in order for the specials to time right with the states, those states should trigger 100%. We are having to use up a S1 to time a S2 bar when Absolute Strength comes at 40 combo. That’s a lot of hits to gain a chance at something! Whereas SL is guaranteed to scale up damage.... and we have to have 5 RWs to get to SL damage!!! This champ was designed flawed from the beginning.

Although kabam closed the other topics on Sentry, will the actually respond to all the concerns voiced ? Let’s see. My guess is no due to past experience

It would be nice if he could keep the abilities from the state he is in not untill he enters a new state but untill the buff from the new state is applied. Tried for him as a 5star yesterday and git a ghost rider. Feeling pretty good right now but i need some damn t4 mystic catalysts.
  • TwuntTwunt Posts: 149
They made him overly complicated with no payoff. The fact you have to spend specials to rotate and wait for a chance at something while building up RW counters is like Luke bypassing the barrage of enemy ships to fire one shot at the heart of the Death Star. But the problem is that if you make it there and fire the shot, there is a 30% chance your Weapon fires...

If we are doing all this work, shouldn’t the buffs at each state trigger 100%? These short fights aren’t getting 5 RWs, and the sig ability is terrible. 70% health lets you keep your RWs...that’s just telling you to be near perfect against Dormammu or spend potions to get back to the threshold.

So many disadvantages with this champ. He really isn’t worth the paper he was sketched on. Seriously Kabam. In all seriousness, this champ has some major utilization flaws, effort flaws, base stat flaws. Please make some changes to the percentages and damage. I know that part is easy to do.

Are there any videos out there where people are trying to line up the abilities to their effects? I've seen a couple of videos and unless I'm missing it I haven't really seen heavies during steadfast or sp2's during whatever the next one is called.

At this point I think everybody knows his damage won't come from basic attacks but rather lining up his effect if everything lines up. I know it's rng to get that to line up with your power bar (which is a terrible design) but it would be nice to see the true payoff. Of course he's going to kill WS in 650 hits if the abilities aren't being used correctly.
  • TwuntTwunt Posts: 149
@Greywarden It takes 500 hits to take WS down because you can’t NOT attack WS and only attack when the power meter and state align. You have to use up specials to recycle the power in case the buff triggers. Usually it doesn’t so you use your power and build up the combo with basic attacks as you should. The fact is that the chance to trigger and line up power is such a low rate, you end up doing basic attacks and weak special attacks for 90% of the fight BECAUSE the RNG is so terribly flawed in design.

Totally agree with that. i'm more concerned with not seeing heavies during SA lining up. No reason not to use heavies there.

He obviously stinks either way but seeing that used would be nice.

I learned this lesson with the first Cable feature crystal. Never open a featured 5* without seeing the champ in action from a players perspective first.
