Starlord r4 tank up advice

Hello community, I’m currently in a dilemma. I have a 5* star lord at rank 3 unduped, and have 5 t2 alphas running out in my stash. I also have a generic awakening gem. Should I use the expiring t2 alphas on him and awaken him, or just bring him up to r4 without dupe? Thanks!

    Dupe him. He's useless without his sig, no question needed.

    I'd say do it if you don't have better champs to use it on.
