I currently have 10000 shards so I can either get a basic and hope for someone good or spend an additional 5000 shards when I get them.
Which one is better to get?

    People here will mostly tell you to spend on the blade featured crystal because of many reasons.

    I have 40000 shards, I could do the same, but idk, do not want to get ant-man and spider-gwen for an extra 5000 shards. It would be ok for me if i get them just for 10k :p

    There is no right answer. I prefer to have more 5 stars and more 6 star shards, so I am inclined for the basic hero one. Best case scenario I get a Blade after Feb 13/14th (but unlikely).
