Leaving while in attack phase of AW

Hello,

If someone leaves during attack phase of AW and the new alliance they are joining then starts AW will he be able to place once attack phase is complete or is he locked out?

Their champs are locked in the AW until that war is completed. Only way to place in a new war is if he reached the final node and "released" his champs from the first war early.
