Clarification needed

Someone in a friends alliance has been banned for account sharing. My friend has asked me to join his alliance to replace the cheater but I thought I read somewhere that if a member is banned it affects that entire alliance and their aw season score. Is this correct. Clearly I don’t want to join an alliance fight for weeks in aw then not get a reward at the end of it.

It affected their points they earned while he was cheating which in turn causes them to score lower. If the cheater is gone then there will be no more impact on the alliance

They kicked him straight away and invited me. Just wanted to make sure it doesn’t affect season before I join

It depends on the rules broken. If someone is breaking TOS in War, one of the consequences can be the removal of Rating. Which makes sense when you consider that Rewards and progress are gained by illegitimate means. While they don't discuss individual cases and I'm not completely aware of what goes into those decisions, I would suspect that Rating is taken away because it was earned as a result of rule-breaking. I also find it hard to believe that it's that much of a surprise to Allies that are well established, considering there is a great deal of time and communication involved. It could be that there is more than one individual aware and participating. So, yes it's possible to lose Rating if TOS is broken. However, if you and your Ally are playing by the rules, there is nothing to be concerned about. If you join an Ally that's lost Rating, it all depends on whether they break TOS or not. It's not generally a risk just because you join that Ally. Action is only taken if rules are broken.
