Level up bad four star champ or save resources and hold off for better one?

The only four star champs I have are Spidergwen and Black Panther Civil War.

My three star lineup is really good (except for lack of a good mystic), with duped Starlord, Wolverine, and Crossbones maxed, non-duped Miss Marvel and Captain America Civil War maxed, duped Drax close to maxed (and just opened Hyperion, not duped, already have almost two maxed cosmics).

I just finished Act 3 exploration and current event quest. I'd like to keep progressing into Act 4 but I'm hesitant to pour resources into champions I'm not likely to want to play soon.

Should I level up four star Spidergwen or hold out for better ones?

black panther civil war is one of the better AW defenders. he isn't amazing on attack but ranking him up would be far from useless in the long run.

I unfortunately have Spidergwen as well. I'd never sell a champ because they might be buffed in the future, but definitely don't rank her up. She's one of the worst in the game. You'll get a new 4 star eventually, and you'll have enough catalysts to load them up if you hold on.

I think that BP has already been ranked, and they're deciding on whether to rank up Spidergwen or not.

Save your resources for better characters to clear harder content unless you are looking to expand your arena roster

Wouldn't shake a stick at BPCW. He's great.
As for SG, she's not my first choice, but since they boosted her, she holds her own in my Arena Grind.

I have all my 4*s at 3/30 with the exception of Gwenpool (just pulled her today!). She will be 3/30 when the next solo level up event comes around. I arena grind and 3/30 is where I take all my 4*s. That being said, if you're not an arena grinder, I would wait to level up a 4* you can use in other content.

This is purely a preference thing, and everyone will have their own take on the answer, but I'll share mine.

Every 4* champ is worth taking to 3/30. They are, at the very least, arena fodder. I would go so far as to say that you will have more champs who just sit at 3/30 and never advance, than you will have champs who you *should* rank up higher than that. Your Spider-Gwen, even if she is your current best 4*, is one of the bottom (or worst) champs in the game, currently. I mean, you never know, they could buff her someday, but for now, she's basically trash. But like I said, all 4* champs are worth at least 3/30. Some others that *I* consider to be trash 3/30's only: Joe Fixit, Khamala Khan, Karnak, Luke Cage, Abomination, War Machine, Old Man Logan, Ant-Man, Red Hulk, She Hulk, and Spider-Gwen. There are people with differing opinions, and that's cool, those are just MY trash pile champs.

The only ones worth taking to 4/40 are the ones who you will use frequently, no matter what other champs you get over time. These would be your Questing teams, your AQ attack team, your AW attack team, and your AW defense team.

5/50 4* is an even smaller list, especially now that 5*'s are going to be become more prominent. I would say the ONLY 4* champs you should consider taking to r5 would fall into these categories:

A ) They are ones that Kabam has stated they don't plan on releasing as a 5* champ. This would be your Wolverine, Daredevil Classic, Cap WW2, Deadpool (red suit, who very few people have), Thor, and Scarlet Witch. An arguement could be made for Doc Strange and Black Widow, but those 2 would only be if you literally have no other options and resources were about to expire or you just have a plethora and therefore aren't wasting them.

B ) They will vastly improve your game. I took my 4* Star-Lord to r5 recently. I don't regret this, as I have no clue when I will acquire a 5* version, let alone dupe him. And SL is someone I use in every single AQ, so I do not feel this was a bad call. Additionally, since champs get locked to the game modes, it would be nice to have a SL that I can use in both AQ *and* AW or questing, which brings me to...

C ) A champion who you would use in multiple game modes, but can't because they get locked. This gives you access to multiple champions who are beneficial, and the possibilities are numerous. Here's an example: 5* Magik and 4* Magik. One to put on defense and one to bring on offense. Or my previous Star-Lord example.

D ) If you start going for Prestige. I don't personally use Quake very often, but I took her to r5 as she was my highest Prestige move that I had available at the time. I may do the same soon with Phoenix, for the same reason. But I don't use either of them outside of arenas.

Hope these examples give you some ideas. But again, EVERYONE is going to have their own take on this subject. Good luck!
