Alliance matching???????

Why are we getting out against 6m point alliances when we are only 2m? Is it due to participation? How's that our fault if another 2m alliance doesn't have the participation of their members so we need to be matched with a 6mil alliance that has the same number of players involved? Please explain match making? Cause I sure as heck can't!
