Member joined before ai started war but champs are locked

A new member joined my alliance before we started war matchmaking. However, they are getting an error message saying their champs are still in a war. Will these champs be available to place for our war in 8 hours (when the war of their previous alliance was due to end), or will they be locked out of AW for another 48 hours?
