Infinity Dungeons one day event issues

Kabam, first I want to say thank you for the infinity dungeons. They could potentially change the game play for this game if continued in the future with some modifications.
With that, I have a couple major concerns in regards to the one day event. First, the connection time to random player suddenly becomes near impossible when all day prior it was almost immediate. Second, having a maintenance and down server during this event really begs the question of whether this was intended or if there was a serious lapse in judgement on how much traffic yesterday/today would bring.
What’s the deal? What happened to have caused all this turmoil in the system to not function properly?
