My guess is that this is a bug, 1st time his ability fails.

    I think this has something to do with the whole active vs passive buff thing.

    It's passive.

    Passive abilities are not Buffs so therefore they can't be stolen

    There is nothing I dislike more in this game than labeling a status as passive, and automatically deprecate existing champs abilities that interact with it. Mehh back to the bat cave...
