Dark Artifact Shards - what happens to them?

I understand that infinity dungeons will end in June 6th. What happens to the dark artifact shards that aren’t used when infinity dungeons are over? Will they be converted to anything or will it all just go to waste if you don’t spend it before the dungeons are gone? Thanks in advance.
