Loss of half my champ because of connection issues

Why do we have to suffer when emergency maintenance pops up, or when the game has connection issues we go into a fight in aq or war and the loading screen is just all we get, then kicked out of the game. I'm just curious why we lose half a champ and never take a hit, doesn't seem fair that we suffer the consequences of a system we have no control over.I love the game and have for years now just never understood this particular flaw.
