Unfair AW match

Hello... My alliance is in platinum one right now (rank 22) and we need to win our last match (most likely) to stay in platinum one. Our war attack phase started a little earlier and we get to face a former master ally because you guys at kabam punished their AW rating for whatever reason. So this is an unfair match up for me and very little chance we can win because our rosters aren't as strong and it makes sense they are more skilled as a former master alliance. How is this fair to us that we can be dropped into platinum 2 for the season because we matched a master alliance because they got punished? Will this be addressed because the loss of potential rewards is tragic. All we wanted was a fair match and we can't get that due to punishments.
