I have found that when you are playing that once you screen dims that’s the warning that the phone is starting over heat. This is the time to shut down the app and let the phone cool down. This will prevent it from restarting. That gives you about 5 min of play time.

As much as people don't want to hear it, and as much as it might not be what the team wants, I think if people are getting the signs of overheating that have been reported, it might be best to hold off on playing until it's fixed. If it's damaging phones to the extent we've seen in the Thread, that's pretty serious.
