AQ BG loss - points or no points or lose points

So I apologize if this seems a beginner question, but it is hard to find a definitive answer and it is vital to alliance advancement. In AQ, if you win most or all fights in a battle group but don't take down the boss (effectively losing that battle group) do you get all points for the fights still or not? Ive heard may opinions on this, even that if you "lose" the battle group you are detracted points. Can anyone answer this definitively? Or at least point me in the right direction for a source to read about it. The actual in game (Kabam tutorial doesn't even specify. Thanks

You keep the points you get which count towards AQ placement rewards and milestone rewards. However, the loss of points is not a loss of points but rather a loss of prestige. If you lose prestige the difficulty of the map is affected the next day making the points you can earn from it different.

Points you earn from fights that contribute to milestone and rank rewards can't be lost. 'Losing points' is probably referring to prestige. If a group clears a map (takes down the final boss, not necessarily 100% explored) you gain prestige. If a group starts and doesn't take down the final boss you lose prestige. Your alliance will also have what is known as a base prestige. This takes into account the strongest 5 champs of every member of your alliance and takes an average. This is the prestige you will start with on the first AQ of each week and will increase/decrease throughout the rest of the week depending on how well you perform. Prestige determines the difficulty of the opponents you will face. But it's not something you need to worry about at that level. It only really becomes important if you're in an AQ focused alliance that will be pushing for the top rank rewards because it can lead to more points.

    So to put it simply:
-points you earn towards milestones cannot be lost
-prestige determines the difficulty of your AQ opponents and can be increased/decreased throughout the week.
