Regarding Recent Reports of Cheating

Hey Summoners!
We’ve recently received some reports about some highly visible alliances engaging in possibly concerning behavior, namely terms of service violations or cheating within a competitive mode of The Contest.
We wanted to take this moment to reiterate a few key things:
1. No one is above the rules in The Contest. It does not matter how much one spends, if one is a Content Creator, if someone is in a ‘top alliance’, or how long a Summoner has been playing. There have been many public instances of us taking action against Summoners within all categories. We realize that it may be easy to get caught up in the idea that some receive preferential treatment, but that is not the case.
2. Whenever we receive reports of possible terms of service violations, we make a point to investigate the scale, scope and plausibility, looking for evidence.
3. If upon investigating, we cannot find in-game evidence to corroborate the claims reported, we will not take action.
4. If we do find in-game evidence, we take action. We look at our data and logs. Screenshots of external conversations are not used nor considered ‘evidence’ as they can be doctored, altered, and we cannot confirm the identity of speakers in third party chat services, nor that the text of the conversations have not been manipulated. In fact, we have seen many past situations where ‘accusers’ have doctored images to tell a different story. It is because of this that we do not consider screenshots outside of MCOC as valid evidence. They are, however, looked at as a place for us to start investigations, on where to scrutinize in our data and logs.
5. We want to once again reiterate that account sharing is against our terms of service. Anything that happens within your account as a result of account sharing is your own responsibility.
6. We are not responsible for access that can be obtained through sharing account info for other platforms either, including Game Center or Google Play.
7. Do not share any account information with anyone, and you will be safe. Share your login information and you are in violation of our Terms of Service, and you risk exposing your account to many ills.
We’ve dug deep into reports on the recent allegations of hacking, account sharing and people being kicked from alliances, as well as customer service ticket history associated with this situation. We simply have not found corroborating evidence in game or in ticket history that supports what some have tried to spread within the community. There is zero evidence of hacking or a data breach.
We are continually looking at new ways to fairly punish cheating or terms of service violations, and we consider this an always active and ongoing effort. Account security starts with our players, but we will continue to examine the game for new exploits, violations, or cheating, that we need to address. And once again - sharing your account information opens you and your alliance up to many risks. There is a reason we have clearly stated, many times, that account sharing is against our rules.
Don’t do it. Trust us, it’s a bad idea.
