Thanos is already a playable character, awarded to those that completed act 5 100% with the fastest times, and for the first 20 players that completed the labyrinth of legends
Thanos's whole mean, overpowered demeanor would be ruined by making him available to all players. Kinda just like having the biggest, baddest villain be a pawn under your thumb.
The fact that he was given as a trophy is reasonable, as he was given to the fastest players to 100% act 5, which is an act worthy of a trophy like him.
He's not even too good anyway. High stats, but otherwise pretty bad.
As far as I'm concerned, not having some variation of Thanos more widely available is as bad as if there were no playable Hulk or Spidey. Like it or not, Thanos is now a main stream, household name character that deserves to be more readily available. I definitely don't want to take anything away from those that earned him already, because they definitely deserve him but there has to be a way to offer a more basic version. They could easily upgrade those that already have him to a version with the Infinity Gauntlet (as the trophy version) and then maybe offer a version without the Gauntlet as a regular version.

Thanos is the carnage of trophy champs
Thanos actually has insanely high health and attack. Both higher than Blade.
The worst trophy champ imo is Kang
