Alliance Quest Scoring - Please Read

Hey everyone!
Thanks to a handful of reports, we’ve recently determined that there is an issue with how wins and losses are determined for the current Alliance Quest Series. This is affecting the way that some Alliance's Prestige changes from day-to-day, and thus has reduced their scores. This issue is caused by the old system following the logic of our upcoming 20.0 Season 5 Alliance Quest update, and is not intentional.
For this most recent AQ ending August 29th at 12:00PM PDT, our team will be doing some calculations to determine if the rewards impacted Summoners get are less than what they should have received.
It’s important to note that this scoring change has not had any negative impact on any alliance that ran 3 Battle Groups within AQ, with at least one person in each Battle Group.
If we are unable to resolve this scoring calculation change for the next AQ before it starts, we will be running the same reward calculation on that. Our goal is to ensure that no one misses out on rewards they should have received. As a result of all of this, the next AQ will also run without map costs.
We will continue to update you all as we have more information, and thank you for your patience.

Our process:
- As mentioned previously, this scoring issue did not have any negative impact on any alliance that ran 3 Battle Groups within AQ, with at least one person in each Battle Group.
- We compiled the list of every single alliance that WOULD have been impacted by this
- We then re-calculated the AQ’s these alliances ran that were impacted by this, using the ‘old’ scoring that should have been applied to these AQ’s in the first place (as opposed to the 20.0 scoring that was incorrectly applied)
- We next ran a comparison of every alliance’s score, comparing what they should have earned vs what the incorrect scoring granted them
- We looked at each of the scoring tiers for both rank rewards and brackets. In many cases, we found that the points difference did not result in a change of rewards. An example of this: Alliance A received 2004426 points when the incorrect scoring was applied. After re-running the correct scoring for AQ, we determined they should have been at 2633961 (30% more points). While this did result in a point difference, the Peak Milestone that they achieved was between 2 million and 3 million points. Similarly, their Rank Rewards bracket would not change as their incorrect rank was 15704, and their correct rank is 14827 and the rank bucket is 12700-16000. Therefore even with the corrected points calculation they would not have received anything different in terms of rewards.
Scale of impact:
- About 60% of alliances in the game were possibly impacted by this issue (based on the battlegroup criteria previously mentioned)
- Of those impacted, 20% of affected alliances require reward adjustments based on the correct scoring moving them into different rank & milestone rewards.
- The Alliance Quests ending August 16th and August 24th were both impacted by this. We were unable to resolve the issue for the last AQ running before 20.0’s release, so we will also need to run this calculation for the AQ that ended yesterday.
Timeline:
We’re going to grant the reward corrections for all three AQ’s at the same time, which means that impacted players will see their reward adjustments sometime next week. We still need some time to finalize the calculations for the AQ that ended August 30th, which will take a few days. We don’t have an exact timeline yet on when this will be finished, but once we know more and know exactly when Summoners can expect their awards adjustment message, we will let everyone know!
Further note:
Impacted Alliances (and individual Alliance members) will receive their reward correction based on the Alliance they were in when they received initial rewards for each affected week. As an example - the Alliance that you were part of and received rewards for during the August 16th AQ is what you will receive awards for as a ‘correction’ for that period of time, even if you were in a different Alliance for the August 24th AQ, or are in a different Alliance now. This means that some Summoners will receive rewards that are different than those currently in the same Alliance as them, if they had moved around.
