Introducing Back Issues #4: Waning Moon

Available 10am PT, Wednesday December 11th!

As the Contest has grown and evolved we’ve introduced many Event Quests, each with their own unique stories, and many that have expanded on the mythos of The Battlerealm and The Contest of Champions. We want to give Veteran Summoners a way to relive those moments, and newer ones that weren’t with us at the time a chance to experience the stories of the Contest that they had missed out on!

This Event Quest is available in TWO difficulties:

CLASSIC difficulty is a recreation of the original quest. While not completely 1:1, the layouts, difficulty, and dialogue are all the same as you remember. Take a stroll down memory lane and see how far you've come, or experience a quest you never got the chance to play!

VARIANT difficulty is a new spin on the quest, available for Summoners level 45 and up. This version features extreme challenge, new opponents, some minor map layout updates, and Champion Requirements that will ask you to reach deep into your roster and pick up some old favorites. This quest will test even the mightiest of Summoners, so be prepared!

The Variant Challenges!

With each Back Issue Variant Difficulty, we aim to shake up the Summoners Roster, either through implicit, or explicit Champion Requirements. This time, we’re making Summoners dig deep into their Rosters, and reviving some of your old favourites through the use of Rarity Restrictions!

Each Quest will require you to bring only certain Rarity Champions. Remember, this is permanent Content, so if you’ve lost your lower Rarity Champions over time, you’ll have time to rebuild that Roster. To assist in this, Summoners over level 45 will regain access to the “Hero Crystal” in the Misc. tab of the store, which contains 1 and 2-Star Champions.

Quest 1: 5 and 6-Star Champions Only
Quest 2: 5-Star Champions Only
Quest 3: 4-Star Champions Only
Quest 4: 3-Star Champions Only
Quest 5: 2-Star Champions Only
Quest 6: 1-Star Champions Only

New Buffs
In addition to some challenging Buffs that you’ve probably already seen around the Contest, this Variant Difficulty will introduce 4 new Buffs:

Crackling Energy:
Striking the Defender with a Contact attack puts a Passive Energy Damage over time effect on the Attacker dealing 0.5% of their max health every second for 10 seconds, stacking up to 10 times. Striking the Defender with a Non-Contact attack Removes all stacks.

Fundamentals:
The Defender has a -100% chance to use Special Attacks, instead they gain a bonus based on their Current Power:

Less than 1 Bar: Reduce all incoming Damage by 95%
1 Bar: Gain +2100 Block Penetration
2 Bars: All Attacks are Unblockable
3 Bars: All Attacks are Unblockable and Charging a Heavy Attack deals 50% of the Defender's Attack as Direct Physical Damage.

Will of Konshu:
All of Moon Knight’s passive abilities are activated, regardless of the current lunar phase.

Echo Barrier:
Defender gains an energy barrier with 15 charges. Striking the Defender, applying a Bleed effect, or applying an Armour Break effect removes a charge. The Defender is immune to all damage while the barrier has charges remaining. Charges are restored to 15 every 20 seconds.

Rewards:

Like Back Issue #3, this Quest features 6 Individual Quests over 3 Chapters, unlike Back Issues #1 and #2, which featured 9. Quest Rewards reflect this.

For completing and exploring all of the Classic quests, you earn:

EDIT: Clarified the Collector Crystal is only available to Summoners: Level 45+

EDIT: There is a typo on the Fundamentals node that is displaying the wrong damage value for when the defender charges a Heavy Attack at 3 bars of Power. The actual damage value is 50% of the Defender's Attack. We have corrected that in this announcement and are working on getting this visual error corrected within the game as well.

Long fight but Hyperion L1 right before being hit to offset the unstoppable. Hyperion also works great for Electro boss 1. 120 hit solo

Champs that reduce AA or champs that can stun for a long time or champs that have unblockable attacks or champs that have high block penetration and I think power control also works

The drop rates on the hero crystal are.....well.......strange to say the least; 80% for a 2*, 20% for a 1*. Usually, or rather with every other crystal that has champs in it, the lower the */rarity the higher the drop rate. Not for this crystal it seems, tbh that feels really cheap.

I tried domino and magik but once no parry u cant bait heavy as when at sp3 the direct damage is nuts just couldnt kill did get close but this node combo sucks

It guarantees AT LEAST a 1* which that crystal absolutely does. That doesnt necessarily mean that rarity has higher odds. Twisting reasoning to meet what youd like it to doesnt make something a fact. Yes in pretty much every other crystal the lowest rarity has the highest odds but there's nowhere that says that has to be the case. That's not a new crystal introduced to get 1*s. It's a very old crystal that was in game to help players get 2*s that has been reintroduced

it's a new low you have reached congratulations the amount of money we spent on cyber weekend and you couldn't throw us bone it would of been nice to put the crystals in 1v1 but instead you have seen a opportunity to do what you do best pay to play 👍

Dude...first u gotta understand basic communication and simple math....odds chance of occurrence etc...then u return and say something worthy of mentioning.
It’s well known that kabam has a bad grammar regarding champions info....but now is different...Check all the crystals and see for yourself...EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM...the higher % is what u have more chance to get...not the other way around. And to think that it should be different this time is just stupid.

Chance = slight possibility = lower %

Then don’t buy it. Nobody is forcing you to buy crystals to do this content. It’s permanent and won’t go away and they said there will probably be ways in the future to obtain them. Lesson is never sell your champs.

The point is that it was the complainers fault for selling their champs when there was no reason to do so, now they have to face the consequences.

So to you... selling 1* champs several years ago is up there with felonies & is something that should follow people around for life?.

When Act 6 dropped people were bummed it was 5*’s+, but that’s a hurdle given time everyone can overcome. This would of been something unbeatable for ppl who sold 1* champs, which is a pretty trivial matter & the reason they are making them available.

Why does chapter 1 allow 5 & 6 star champs?? By your logic chapter one should only allow 6 star champs (something that wouldn’t effect seasoned players, but would effect newer players). Just because something doesn’t effect you, doesn’t mean it’s pointless.
They were costing you something to keep? You gained something worthwhile from selling them? It made no sense to sell them bc there was no benefit. Everyone I've talked to that sold said they were tired of looking at them which is probably the most ridiculous reason I can think of

Also never said I don’t have any. I actually still have a maxed BP & HE (since they were maxed). I’m just one of those rare people who’s able to view things from other peoples perspective & not look for trivial ways to push ppl down/get an advantage. Seriously... get a life.

Use any champ, who can stun on special and stand up intercept. Get him into corner, stun, spam heavy. The easiest boss imo. I used hype, but other champs should work as well, like og hulk, ronan, ip, thor... But be aware some champs are moving back when spamming heavies, like sentinel for example

Also you can actually hit in block to get your opponent into corner, so he would be below a bar of power and you would be able to parry and start heavily hitting him into the wall

Not that bad, IMO. Some of these fights were actually fun and interactive, some were nearing cheap without looking for certain champs or strate-cheese. I’ll need to wait for AQ to finish to get my best options, so this was a day of itemless testing. I’m getting a little tired of this level of content having +400% attack, though. 5-65 6 stars with crazy high attack, with peak nodes, with ai set on annihilate is annoying. Seems lazy to me.
