I got my second ever 5 star crystal and got crossbones. Is he good in any way? Does he have some sort of potential I cannot see or what, because he seems quite poor champion to me.

For your second 5*? I'd say that's a great pull.

Activate his furies by swiping back & holding block. He doesn't do crit damage so he's great against a lot of different champs and nodes.

He can wreck most other champs in his same rank under 10 hits.

He is really good for rttl. I remember really really wanting him, and I still don’t have him lol. I’d take him to r4 (since i have a 2016 gem) if I pulled him
